Energy efficient. Foods do cook much faster in a pressure cooker so that alone will yield energy savings. Consider that it may take about 1 1/2 hour to roast a chicken in the oven, depending on size. The same chicken can be cooked in a pressure cooker in 20 minutes. Heating the oven for up to 4 or 5 times longer than heating a burner on a stove use up measurably more energy. This one simple example shows the efficiency that can be expected with the pressure cooker.
